Jim - The description that best describes Jim is Opportunistic, as in his life he probably does not have the pleasure of a pretty girl talking to him and taking him into there confidence. In the book he latches on and jumps into the opportunity of helping Sally. This also is because he has what every man should have in them, the ability to help a damsel in distress.
